James Lake, geneticist and molecular biologist studies genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular evolution. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin and conducted postdoctoral research at MIT and Harvard Medical School. He is currently a professor in the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology department at UCLA where he studies the origin of eukaryotes, the evolution of prokaryotes, and the evolution of multi-cellular animals using genomes and molecular sequencing data. Lake is also active in developing computational methods for genome analyses.
